Special Occasion Quilts

It was for my ??th birthday that my sister, Janet Stafford, presented me with one of her amazing quilts. I have it hanging on my gallery wall, because it is such a beautiful piece of art. She continues to produce "Special Occasion Quilts" of exceptional quality. These are the hand made textiles that will become family heirlooms. She is able to create a quilt that so dearly reflects the
accomplishments and passions of a special recipient. For her son, Patrick, who just got his Navy wings, she produced a quilt that is a mosaic of bird wings! If you ever are considering a very special gift for someone, a Special Occasion Quilt would be appreciated over a lifetime.

Super Sewing Machines

A trip to Whitehall, PA in search of a walking foot machine. You may wonder what kind of sewing equipment has a foot that walks! Without going on about the technical details, just suffice it to say that in many drapery and upholstery workrooms it is a proud machine to employ. The photos posted are a vision of the now idle manufacturing industry in the USA. David at Atlantic Sewing Machine (http://www.atlanticsewing.com) reconditions many of these machines and gives them a new life in small businesses. You can see the hundreds of workhorses in his warehouse just waiting for new homes. We already use three of these machines in the workroom and how indispensable are the US blindstitch, Consew straight stitch, and Wilcox and Gibbs serger. These heavy industrial hunks are powered by separate motors which makes them fast and dutiful. Give them the care they deserve, and they will reward you with a lifetime of great stitching.
